As the country has experienced a boom in its population and as our needs have increased, many of us has decided that the most practical solution in providing more space for our homestead is to create outdoor storage space. Aside from the outdoor kitchen and dining areas, outdoor storage structures or sheds has also increased in popularities. Not only are they practicable they have also become stylish accessories for many gardens.

Not all storage sheds are created equal, with many different types of sheds that you can create; each of them has their own strength and weaknesses which serves different purposes. These differences are based on their use, finish and design. Their sizes also vary.

Types of sheds:

  •      Tool shed  as its name suggests, the tool shed is where a respectable DIY handyman stores his hardware. This also may serve as his shop. A tool shed would typically have shelves, benches, hanging areas, cabinets and storage chests. With much work being done inside the shed, it is necessary to have good ventilation and a strong foundation.
  •     Garden shed  built usually near a garden. This shed serves as storage for all the items that are needed to maintain a beautiful garden. A garden shed would need good storage areas such as shelves, cabinets and chests for storing chemicals and fertilizers as well as a safe area for storing sharp garden tools. For some, a shed ramp is also necessary if you decide to store a large grass mower.
  •      Barn sheds  this is usually the largest. Many barn sheds utilize packed dirt flooring which can accommodate small heavy machineries. They also would require storage areas for animal feeds. Barn sheds are usually where expensive farming equipments are stored. So it is necessary that it is well secured and can be locked well.

In some homes, the garden and tool shed is combined to save space.
